Somatic Practice & Movement Therapy

with Horses

Healing Together

At eQualia BodyMind, we promote and provide somatic practice in presence of horses, which, we believe, helps enhance general health and support longevity. We believe that our somatic work benefits both humans and horses - supporting their well-being, adaptability and inner balance.

Monika Karpinska, eQualia BodyMind founder, ILM Practitioner

eQualia BodyMind partners with certified ILM practitioners, offering somatic practice and movement retreats with horses for individuals and groups. All the practitioners went through a 2-8 year ILM training and are qualified professionals, whose practice is grounded in ethics, expertise and holistic approach.

Horses were — and still are — my wisest teachers. After over two decades with them, I’ve come to know their quiet generosity, honest feedback, and stabilizing presence. They seem to like being around when a somatic treatment is held, that’s why they joined eQualia BodyMind project.

My name is Monika Karpinska. I am a woman in my early 50s who has lived a full, fast-paced life: building a career, running a business, raising kids, navigating emigration and gone through most of the possible phases and pitfalls of personal development. And although I experienced many joyful and memorable moments during all these years, I was also carrying the weight of burnout and deep exhaustion from overwork. Since I was 25, horses were a quiet but powerful presence in my life—helping me find balance when everything felt overwhelming

From when I remember, I’ve been drawn to the deeper questions of life—curious about the nature of reality, consciousness, and what it truly means to feel whole. I explored various development and healing paths along the way, but it was only when my body said a clear “no” through a diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis at age 46 that I had to stop—and truly listen. That’s when the real rescue came in the form of somatic therapy.

Within a few months of regular somatic practice, I began feeling real shifts: less pain, more mobility, and a renewed sense of clarity and hope. I trained extensively, became a certified ILM practitioner, and explored other powerful somatic methods like Feldenkrais, Body Mind Centering, Sacro-Cranial therapy, and TRE as a patient. These practices didn’t just bring physical relief, they offered much more - the body-mind alignment and wholeness I had been searching for all along.

And as a rider and a horse person, I also noticed:

Improved body awareness: a deeper sense of posture, breath, and movement, leading to more fluid and responsive riding

Regulation: staying calm and present, reducing tension and improving communication with the horse

Enhanced coordination: rewiring habitual patterns, allowing for smoother transitions and better balance in the saddle

Authentic connection: having learnt to listen from within that translates into more intuitive horsemanship

That’s why I chose to combine somatic treatments with the presence of horses. The results went far beyond what I imagined. Horses began to soften, approach, yawn, and gently touch—clear signs of trust and relaxation. At the same time, I noticed humans becoming visibly more at ease—smiling, breathing more freely, and settling into their bodies. These remarkable, immediate effects became the foundation of what eQualia BodyMind is today: a space where recovery unfolds naturally through connection, presence, and the quiet wisdom of horses.
